Dylan Thomas Boathouse

The Dylan Thomas Boathouse is situated in Laugharne, just over an hours drive from Swansea.  This is where the poet Dylan Thomas lived with his family between 1949 and 1953.  He spent the last four years of his life there and he wrote many of his major pieces of poetry. The house itself is located  along a cliff path overlooking the Tâf Estuary.

The Boathouse is owned by Carmarthenshire County Council and serves as a museum and is open to the public for most of the year. The interior decor captures the 1950s appearance when Dylan lived there, the museum features memorabilia and some original furniture. Nearby is a reconstruction of the "writing shed" where Dylan spent a great deal of his time. The reconstructed writing shed is set up with a writing table light.

The Boathouse receives about 15,000 visitors a year.
